But I&#039;d like to reassure people that, while this is optimum, you can still get good compost with less﻿ work and attention; it takes more time, and it&#039;s not as finely textured, and it won&#039;t have gotten hot enough to kill seeds and pathogens. Still, if you don&#039;t have time, don&#039;t give up on compost.]]></description>

Just a couple of tips:

Try adding some CaCO3 to the mix (about a spadeful for a composter that size), make sure it&#039;s well integrated﻿ and you should be able to get the temperature up to 75-80 C. 

If you have a lot of brown material (includes fallen leaves) adding some ammonium nitrate (34%N) or ammonium sulfate (21%N) will help to prevent a slowing in decomposition rate. If you have an organic one, be sure to crush/powder it for quicker release.]]></description>
